Ugly Altoids projects: A puzzle

Remember the other day I said that Altoids tins are the modern equivalent of Christ’s toenails? These projects are Christ’s toenails caked with solder, wrapped in duct tape and decorated with pointless little screws.

So, a puzzle: Match the 10 ugly Altoids-tin projects in the pictures below with their ostensible functions!

They are:

1) A doorbell
2) A holiday decoration
3) A tripwire
4) A belt buckle (on a duct tape belt)
5) A sandbox
6) A box to put things in
7) A decorative shadowbox
8) A guitar
9) A paddleboat

Bonus points if you can combine all 10 to make a perpetual-motion machine.

UPDATE: I had a change of opinion on the advent calendar and removed it from the game. Go here for the new view.

  1. (J) is clearly the calendar, and looks kinda nice really. (D) is probably the doorbell, and looks fucking tragic, as does the belt, even with the best will in the world I cannot say that is anything but horrific; it is bad and the maker should feel bad.

This would also be a more challenging quiz if the titles of the png files weren’t so descriptive!

  2. They’re all appalling. Except the advent calendar.

I’m beginning to think that terrible crafts are one of the signs of the coming apocalypse.
